Who We Are
Offering shelter to those in need
Hope and Harbor is an overnight homeless shelter for adults in Red Wing, MN which
has been in operation since November 2019 and offers shelter all week long during
the months of November through March. We operate out of local area churches and
provide shelter from 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Please call 651-764-4294 for the current
location of the shelter for any particular week. We answer the phone between 6 PM
and 7:30 AM daily but our voicemail will provide information regarding the location at any hour of the day. If you have other questions, please leave a message and we will return your call when we open at 6 PM.
"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say "It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem." Then there are those who see the need and respond."

As time goes by, the more I recognize that honesty, integrity, peace, grace and love are essential qualities in our interactions with others. My life’s purpose is to bear witness to Christ in service – extending His endless mercy, redemption and hope to others.

I started volunteering with Hope & Harbor in 2023. I became interested in learning about homelessness when I was going to college for my Bachelors Degree in Human Services. I learned how important it was to have basic needs met & I got to read about creative strategies that towns implemented to decrease homelessness within their community. When people have their basic needs met, they can have better mental and physical health! I am passionate about helping others, and I strive to make a positive impact in our local community!

When someone has a stable place to sleep and access to basic necessities, they are better equipped to address mental health challenges and make positive life changes. Every day I ask myself “Did I Make A Difference?”

I believe every human being has been created in the image and likeness of God and therefore has extraordinary value. God cares about how we treat other people and when we have the opportunity to help anyone, I want to do it. Hope and Harbor creates an avenue through which I help those needing assistance with some of the most basic needs in life.

I am part of the BOD at Hope and Harbor because I believe in the power of prayer. Prayer changes people and their situation. Prayer also moves the Hand of God regarding the resources needed to operate this shelter. Philippians 4:6 states: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
