Hope and Harbor Homeless Shelter is a rotating cold-weather homeless shelter serving unhoused adults (18+) in Goodhue County. We are open 6:00 PM -7:30 AM daily during the cold weather months.
We offer safe and warm shelter, 2 meals a day, access to free showers, free laundry services, and support to help you on your journey.

OUR DAILY SCHEDULE
6:00 PM-8:00 PM. Guest check-in. After 1st night of the shelter guests must be checked in by 6:00 PM unless an agreement is made prior by the shelter director and guest. Guests must be fully checked in by 8:00 PM.
Dinner is served 6:30-7:30 each evening. Guests must be fully checked in by 7:00 PM if eating dinner.
Quiet hours: Quiet hours are 10:00 PM-6:30 PM. Guests are to remain in the assigned sleeping area during quiet hours.
Breakfast is 6:45 AM-7:15 AM daily.
Shelter closes each morning at 7:30 AM unless the host church requires earlier closing due to church needs. EXCEPTION: When we host at 1st Presbyterian, we close at 7:15 AM.

Who are we?
Hope and Harbor is a cold weather, rotating, overnight shelter serving unhoused adults. (18+) in Goodhue County, MN. You do not need to be a Goodhue County resident to seek shelter at Hope and Harbor. We are open mid-November to mid-March each year.
Where are we located?
Hope and Harbor rotates between area churches in Red Wing, MN. We shelter in each location in 2–3-week blocks. Please check website (insert location on the website where the weekly schedule will be parked) for our current location.
What do we offer?
Hope and Harbor provides overnight shelter to unhoused adults. We are open each day from 6:00 PM-7:30 AM*.
In addition to offering a safe and dignified place to sleep Hope and Harbor offers a warm evening meal, breakfast, access to daily showers, and access to complimentary laundry for guests actively sheltering with Hope and Harbor.
In addition, we offer guests the opportunity to connect with community resources that they are lacking. These resources include but are not limited to assistance in obtaining housing, food resources, enrolling in insurance, providing an address in which to receive mail while sheltering with
Hope and Harbor, and other resources. Hope and Harbor also provides the opportunity to connect with community members that provide connections with others in the community.
*On occasion, due to a host location schedule, Hope and Harbor closes prior to 7:30AM. Guests will be informed of the early closing at least the night before.
How do we provide our services?
Hope and Harbor uses a combination of volunteers and paid overnight advocates to provide the services offered. Community members help guests get checked in each evening, provide the warm meal, and spend time socializing with guests in ways of playing cards, making puzzles, or simply visiting during the evening hours. Paid overnight advocates arrive at 10:00 PM and provide a safe space for guests to sleep soundly each night. In the morning the overnight advocates assist in providing breakfast and signing guests up for morning showers at the Red Wing YMCA and laundry services at a local laundromat.
How long can I stay?
If a guest abides by the guest policies, a guest may stay with Hope and Harbor as long as needed, during the shelter season. Being we are a seasonal homeless shelter we are only open during the cold winter months. Each season varies, so please check with the posted shelter schedule for your shelter needs. Hope and Harbor offers overnight shelter only, guests need to leave the shelter location each morning.
What can I bring to the shelter?
Each guest is allowed 1 backpack/duffel size bag of personal items while sheltering with Hope and Harbor. All personal items will be checked when entering the shelter each evening.
Are animals allowed?
Yes, Hope and Harbor allows service animals, (dog or miniature horse), emotional support animal (dog or cat), or a pet (dog or cat). Each guest will be required to show proof of recent vaccinations before sheltering at Hope and Harbor. Each guest will be required to complete the appropriate service animal, emotional support animal, or pet policy before sheltering at Hope and Harbor. The signed policy will be in place the entire time the guest is at Hope and Harbor and strictly enforced.
